Your submission to the Imperial County District Attorney’s Office may become part of a police report.
Every person who reports to the District Attorney’s Office, or other police agency, that a crime has been committed and knows the report to be false, is committing a crime and can be prosecuted, (Penal Code §148.5).
You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt once the District Attorney’s Office receives your complaint. The acknowledgement of receipt should not be construed as confirmation the Public Integrity Unit has commenced an investigation. If an investigation is commenced, our ethical duties preclude us from sharing certain information about the investigation with you.
Anonymous complaints will not be reviewed. You can request that your identity remain confidential, and our office will honor that request within the requirements of the law. However, we cannot guarantee that your identity will remain confidential if an investigation commences and action is taken.
